Roush Develops Tools to Aid Medical Professionals Battling COVID-19
Livonia, M.I. (April 17, 2020) – Roush Enterprises has begun producing critical medical equipment to support the fight against COVID-19. Adding to the company’s legacy of applying creative solutions to the toughest problems, Roush has applied its strength in providing end-to-end solutions to a broad array of industries as it moves to help support medical professionals during this healthcare crisis.
“At Roush, we are at our best when challenged to think outside the box, develop creative solutions to complex problems, and work well under pressure,” said Evan Lyall, CEO of Roush Enterprises. “At no time in our history have those traits been more valuable, and we are applying these skills to becoming part of the solution.”
To address the critical shortage of medical supplies challenging our healthcare providers during the COVID-19 outbreak, Roush has created a cross-functional Medical Task Force that is working with healthcare providers across the country to design and manufacture items desperately needed in this battle. Within days of the declaration of a state of emergency in Michigan, Roush designed and began manufacturing protective face shields so vitally needed by healthcare workers. To date, Roush has shipped over 10,000 face shields to Beaumont Hospital and others.
The entire Roush team is involved in supporting this effort. Roush partnered with Roush Fenway Racing to produce protective equipment used in the intubation process. To support Ford Motor Company’s COVID19 response initiatives, Roush has developed a portable high-volume oxygen supply unit and a hospital bed design for use at field hospitals throughout the region. In addition, Roush is also manufacturing wire harnesses to support Ford’s production of desperately needed ventilators. Roush is also producing 3D printed ventilator adaptors and filter components.
In addition to providing support to the medical community, Roush is continuing to support hundreds of programs deemed critical to the country’s critical infrastructure – these include defense and aerospace programs to mobility programs that facilitate the shipment of goods during this pandemic.
“We applaud everyone involved in these activities at Roush for their ingenuity and resourcefulness,” said Dean Massab, Roush’s Chief Commercial Officer, of the resiliency displayed by Roush employees. “We truly are all in this together.”
